Choosing The Right Chain Harrow
Please scroll down for additional details or select and buy your chain harrow if you know the dimensions you require.
The weight, size and type of chain harrow determines the performance; 13mm tines will ensure your harrow lasts for many years. We offer a 3 year warranty as standard on all our trailed harrows. Other suppliers offer cheaper chain harrows but you may get thinner and/or less tines so you might want to check the weight before you make a decision.
Each chain harrow (either 5ft deep or 10ft deep) allows mat combinations of up to 12ft wide. Ensure your harrow is wider than your towing vehicle to keep a safe distance from the edge of your area and to remove tyre marks. Please visit our Towing Vehicles page for a general guide as to which harrows we would recommend for various vehicle types.
Our 4ft, 5ft and 6ft Semi-Professional (5ft deep) chain harrows include a standard drawbar.
The drawbars are fully detachable to allow for easier handling and the the extra weight improves levelling by keeping the mats on the ground optimising the effectiveness of the harrow.
Our drawbars are available for 4ft, 5ft, 6ft, 8ft, 10ft and 12ft harrows to suit your chosen combination of fixed tine or 3-way tine mats.
We strongly recommend all trailed harrows over 6ft wide have a heavy duty drawbar of this quality and strength.
Fixed tine mats feature a one-way pulling action. This low cost harrow - from just £360.00 plus VAT - uses an aggressive action and will achieve good results.
3-Way tine trailed harrow mats feature a 3-way pulling action giving you the option to choose passive, aggressive or lighter to suit the ground conditions.
4ft, 5ft and 6ft wide (5ft deep) single chain harrow mats are supplied with a standard drawbar, over 6ft wide mats include a heavy duty drawbar.
Fixed tines or 3-way pulling action tines (image below shows 13mm 3-way tines).
All Professional (10ft deep) chain harrow mats include a heavy duty drawbar.
Fixed tines or 3-way pulling action tines (image below shows 13mm 3-way tines).
Chain harrowing generally starts in the Spring and follows through to Autumn and the land is usually rolled afterwards.
